OUR STORY

CYAN KENYA is a registered youth led Community Based Organization established in February 2016 as a youth group in the western region of Kaksingri. It was formally registered in May 2019 under the ministry of Gender, Children and Social Services (Registration Number CBO/HUD/0058/2019) as a non – profitable and non – political community-based organization led by young volunteers who wanted to mitigate sexual and reproductive health challenges faced by adolescents and young people in the rural communities.
The organization operates in the rural villages of Suba South and North Sub-Counties, of Homa Bay County in Kenya. Its goal is to concentrate on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRH&R) services, and Youth Economic Empowerment geared towards addressing the unique needs of the resident youths, facilitating behavioral change and social well-being at the grassroots levels.

Strategic objectives

    Increase the number of CYAN Kenya volunteers, staff and associates to strengthen the resource base for program design and implementation.

    Integrate and strengthen capacity for support services and increase access to information, resources and SRHR, enhancing youth governance to ensure quality youth-friendly services through research and development.

    Build a strong internal organisational structure and promote collaboration through synergy with other programs, while championing the collective bargaining of young people for improved livelihoods.

Objectives

    Promote economic development by building a strong internal organisational structure and fostering collaboration, partnership and integration with other programs and stakeholders.

    Create an enabling environment for adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) to seek justice for violations of their reproductive health and rights.

    Integrate and strengthen support services for youth to increase access to information and resources on adolescent sexual reproductive health and rights (ASRHR) and governance.

    Enhance youth-friendly services at the community level.

  • 5

    Encourage and facilitate socio-economic creativity and innovative ideas and activities.
